Welsh business urged to get their applications in for Business Awards

Businesses from across Wales are being urged to enter the prestigious Welsh Business Awards 2017 ahead of the forthcoming deadline.

Entrants have less than a month to submit their entries before the deadline on Friday 8th December.

The Welsh Business Awards aim to recognise the very best from businesses across Wales and the ceremony itself will be held at City Hall in Cardiff to accommodate the growing number of guests who are keen to attend.

Heather Myers, Director of South and Mid Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’ve been really impressed with the calibre of entries we’ve had so far but we know there are yet more successful businesses who would be in with a genuine chance of walking away with an award.

“People can find award entries daunting, but I know from past experience that once you start, you’ll find that you have done plenty over the past 12-months to shout about.”

Richard Pring, Technical Director of Wales Interactive was named Entrepreneur of the Year 2016, he said: “Winning the award topped off a great 5 years of running Wales Interactive and makes all the hard work worth it. It has been a great boost for myself and the company, it is a great accolade to mention when talking to other businesses and a has made many more people aware of the company and what we do.

“While running a business sometimes it’s hard to stop, take a step back and look at what you have achieved. Receiving this award validates what I have accomplished in the past five years and makes me confident that the next five will be just as successful.”

Siwan Rees, Director of USW Exchange, a business support hub based at the University of South Wales which is headline sponsor for the awards, said: “In a relatively short space of time, the Welsh Business Awards have cemented their place in the Welsh business calendar.

“The Awards are an excellent platform for any business wishing to highlight their achievements, benchmark against the competition, reward their teams and gain the recognition they deserve.”

There are 10 categories for businesses to enter, including: Commitment to Customer Service; Commitment to Skills & People Development; Excellence in Community Relations; Excellence in Environmental Management; Excellence in Marketing & Communications; Growth Business of the Year Start up Business of the Year; Success through Innovation; Success through Overseas Trade; and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 8th December and nominees will be announced on Monday 29th January.

Winners will be announced at a Black-Tie Gala Dinner, hosted by television presenter Gethin Jones, on Thursday 8th March 2018 at the City Hall in Cardiff.
