Macmillan makes move to Caledonian Exchange

Macmillan Cancer Support has expanded its operations in Edinburgh, by taking 4,533 sq. ft. of office space at Caledonian Exchange.

The deal, brokered by Knight Frank, will see the charity move into the Caledonian Exchange in September. Knight Frank is marketing the remaining space in the building alongside joint agent, Eric Young and Co.

Located by the Western Approach to the city centre, Caledonian Exchange occupies a high-profile position in Edinburgh Exchange and consists of 58,000 sq. ft. of Grade A office space. The building is owned by global investment management firm, Blackrock.

Its existing tenants include property and planning consultancy, Rapleys; recruitment firm, Hudson; engineering consultancy, Mott MacDonald; law firm, Lindsays and telecommunications company, AT&T.

A significant refurbishment of Caledonian Exchange’s reception area was recently completed, including new flooring, lighting, and repainting at a total cost of £120,000.

Simon Capaldi, Office Agency Partner at Knight Frank, added: “Caledonian Exchange offers an increasingly scarce commodity in Edinburgh: Grade A space in the city centre. The building is close to being fully let, as demand continues to grow and new accommodation is hard to come by within Edinburgh’s core areas. There is only 10,863 sq. ft. of space available in the building on a single floor plate, which is already attracting significant levels of interest.”
