New premises keep things moving for local haulage company

Barker Storey Matthews has confirmed the sale of the former Gladwins HGV vehicle servicing and repair centre on Church Lane in Warboys, Cambridgeshire to local haulage firm J Singh Transport whose current base is on the former airfield nearby.

The sale of the Warboys premises and site is part of Nationwide Crash Repair Centres’ property disposal programme following its acquisition of Gladwins.

Agents Barker Storey Matthews and Bristol-based Burston Cook acted jointly on behalf of the national company in the sale of the 1.88 acre yard with workshops and ancillary offices to J Singh Transport for close to the asking price of £675,000 after only a brief period of marketing.

The new Warboys site will enable J Singh Transport to expand its business by providing much needed additional office space and yard facilities alongside a vehicle repair centre.

Jaspal Singh, Managing Director, said, “The Church Road site is ready made and is ideal.  It suits the requirements of our rapidly expanding haulage business because it also means we can remain in the part of Cambridgeshire in which most of our staff live.”

Stephen Power, Director, Barker Storey Matthews Huntingdon, added, “There was interest from a number of potential purchasers in the transport and vehicle repair sectors but we’re really pleased to have sold the yard and site to a local company which is obviously going places.”
