Former army barracks are sold after going on parade at Paul Fosh Auctions

A former army barracks and a collection of buildings on almost five acres of land in the Rhondda has been sold at auction.

The barracks at Griffith Street Pentre sold at Paul Fosh Auctions, after serious bidding in the room on and on the phone for £185,000 after the guide price had been lifted from what it had been £135,000 to £160,000.

The property, accessed across a single track railway line,  includes an array of accommodation including a caretaker’s, various dormitories, garages, drill hall, former armoury, four single storey buildings which includes a classroom,  rifle range and storage unit.

Paul Fosh, of Paul Fosh Auctions said: “The barracks would be ideal for a number of uses including outdoor pursuit centre, hotel, bed and breakfast, industrial units storage or scope for residential all subject to obtaining the necessary planning consents

Paul said: “The lot created a great deal of interest from a number of parties before the sale and on the night of the auction and after some strong bidding in the room and over the phone the property was eventually sold for £185,000.”

The auction, which offered a total of 72 lots realised a total of £3,787,250 from the sale of fifty properties. The next Paul Fosh Auctions sale will be held on Thursday, July 20 at The Park Inn Hotel, Cardiff, starting at 5pm.
