Following a number of key senior level appointments, one of the East Midlands’ leading consulting development engineers has announced a major expansion, launching two new offices.

M-EC, which employs 45 people across its group, has opened offices in Birmingham and Milton Keynes to better serve its existing and growing client base in these hugely developable areas.  Established in 2009, M-EC has an impressive track record, achieving substantial year on year growth since inception. Offering the full spectrum of engineering services including civil engineering; transport; flood risk and drainage; noise & air quality; structures; geotechnics and environmental; geomatics and utilities, M-EC is hoping to build on its existing network of contacts to facilitate further expansion.

“Our geographical area of operation has expanded significantly in the last couple of years and we have been winning more and more schemes in the West Midlands and South East,” explains director, Alexander Bennett. “In addition, many of our key clients have offices in both locations so it seemed the logical choice for our expansion.”

Forming part of M-EC’s strategic business development plan, both offices will offer access to all disciplines, but initially Birmingham will focus on transport and flood risk services whilst Milton Keynes will concentrate on civil engineering and infrastructure.

Situated in a prominent position at Colmore Plaza, M-EC’s Birmingham office is being managed by Alexander Bennett, who is now based in the city full time. Alexander is supported by the entire existing M-EC team, which includes the recently appointed associate director, Neil Benison, who is tasked with overseeing the growth of the transport division across all three M-EC offices.

In Milton Keynes, M-EC is located in the thriving business district surrounding Midsummer Boulevard and has appointed engineering professional, Michael Avery as office principal. Michael is a qualified civil engineer with over 13 years’ experience in property and development and as M-EC’s associate director, has responsibility for leading the civils team and broadening its work across the region. Joining Michael in Milton Keynes is associate Agi Seamans, who will help facilitate development of the civils design portfolio.

Recruitment for further graduate and senior level positions in both offices has commenced in earnest, and M-EC’s directors are also hoping to offer apprenticeship opportunities in the future.

Managing director, Eddie Mewies commented: “Opening these new premises represents a major step forward in M-EC’s growth plan. Both offices are easily accessible, with excellent links to the road and rail networks, as well as being centrally located for client meetings and networking opportunities.

“Our plan is to firmly establish core disciplines and grow organically before adding more niche services such as noise & air quality, site technical services and structures. We are confident we have the right balance of resources and energy to meet the resurging demand for top quality engineering and look forward to welcoming our clients in both offices very soon!”

M-EC’s head office is in Ibstock, Leicestershire.
