New chairman for commercial law firm

Business advisory firm Greenaway Scott has appointed Peter Wright as non-executive chairman.

Mr Wright, the former strategic investment director of Finance Wales, has joined the corporate commercial law firm to provide strategic advice to the growing business, which reported a record breaking 2014 after increasing its turnover to over 250 per cent of its first year.

Working alongside founder and managing director Nigel Greenaway, Mr Wright will help Greenaway Scott continue its growth, which will involve future expansion into new offices along the M4 corridor.

Mr Wright brings with him over 35 years of investing experience having worked for Natwest, Fortis Bank and Finance Wales. At Finance Wales, Mr Wright successfully raised the rate of investment at the Finance Wales Group from £6m in 2003/04 to £48m in 2013/14.

He also expanded the Group operations across the UK by winning new external fund management contracts in the North East and North West as well as further contracts in Wales.

On his appointment, Mr Wright, said: “Greenaway Scott has already built an enviable reputation for delivering high quality legal services in a focussed and truly innovative way.  It has huge growth potential and the team have the ambition to go with it. I’m hoping that by using my skills and experience, I will be the catalyst to help Greenaway Scott achieve its goals.

“Expansion will focus on developing its brand and services, as well as its UK presence, with the aim of making it a leading specialist legal firm in the technology and life sciences sector. It is going to be an exciting journey and one I am looking forward to enormously.”

Nigel Greenaway, managing director of Greenaway Scott, said: “We are extremely lucky to have Peter on board. With his vast amount of experience and knowledge, we know he will help us achieve our full potential and our ambitious growth plans. We had a great 2014, having increased our turnover to over 250 per cent of our first year and we hope to have an even better 2015.

“Having a non-executive board is important to us, as it enables us to approach the market with a different advantage as we can utilise our board members’ expertise to demonstrate how we have a commercial focus at our core.”
