Recruitment company supplies staff for nearly 70 new posts being created in Fareham

Wild Recruitment in Portsmouth has won a contract to supply staff for nearly 70 new jobs being created at Gestamp in Fareham.

The growing consultancy will provide both permanent and temporary workers to the firm that makes parts for vehicles.

The multinational Gestamp Group has invested £14m in its Fareham base and wanted to take no chances when it came to recruitment.

Wild is already providing workers who will help make components for the Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic vans at the Midpoint Park trading estate.

The consultancy works across many sectors but recently has seen large growth in its industrial, and technical and engineering divisions.

This supports recent figures from the Office for National Statistics that show the number of engineering vacancies across the country has risen by 22% in the last year.

The figures also showed UK unemployment fell by 121,000 to 2.12 million in the three months to May – the lowest level in nearly six years.

Michelle Stewart, Managing Director of Wild Recruitment, which employs 22 staff, said: “Gestamp has made a large investment and required nearly 70 workers.

“Our experience, expertise and local knowledge helped us win the contract and we are now actively supplying staff.

“It is particularly good news as it follows the job losses at BAE Systems.

“Our engineering and technical division has grown rapidly which reflects the increasing demand for staff and an improving local economy.”

Mark Pearson, Gestamp HR manager said: “We have a contract for 12 years to make these parts and have invested heavily in Fareham.

“It’s satisfying to be able to offer stable, long-term automotive jobs in the area.

“The workers that Wild are providing will enable us to run a two-shift production.

“We have about 35 workers at present but that number will be nearer 90 when we’ve finished recruiting.”

Wild recruits in numerous other divisions including industrial, office and finance, customer service and sales, driving and senior selection.

The consultancy also has a branch in Poole, Dorset, and in 2010 was bought by the national group Berry Recruitment.
