New hi-tech start up creates 48 jobs in Carmarthenshire

LSN Diffusion Ltd, a Welsh Indian joint venture, which started manufacturing high-tech metallurgical products in Llandybie in April 2013 has already created 48 jobs.

The £2.75m investment in the new facility on Cilrychen Industrial Estate, was supported by Welsh Government finance for the creation of thirty new jobs.

Welsh Government grant aid and the pro-active help from Carmarthen County Council were key factors in securing the project, which was originally planned to be located in India.

LSN Diffusion specializes in the manufacture of high tech alloy powders based on nickel, cobalt and iron. The alloys are applied in the manufacture of engineering components subject to wear, heat and corrosion and for joining complex parts made in difficult to weld materials.

Speaking at an event yesterday (Wednesday June 11) to celebrate the company reaching all its initial milestones, Economy Minister Edwina Hart said: “I am delighted Welsh Government support ensured that LSN Diffusion set up in Wales where it operates in one of our key sectors and is already creating a wide range of jobs.

“It has achieved a great deal in a short time, setting up a completely new manufacturing plant including a state-of-the-art laboratory, exporting to markets worldwide and exceeding its original job creation targets. It’s good news for the company, its employees and good news for Wales and I wish them every success in the future.”

Sean Moran, Director of Finance and Administration, said: “ I am pleased to report we have achieved all the key targets we set ourselves when we became operational just over a year ago”.

“Applications for our products are growing strongly and our lean, nimble and agile business works closely with customers worldwide to develop products customized to their requirements as well as manufacturing to international standards”

“LSN Diffusion is a young company targeting a huge global market and we will be looking to grow year on year, creating more jobs. Support from the Welsh Government and Carmarthenshire County Council has played a key role in enabling us to set up in Llandybie and contributed to our early success.”

The business employs trained professional metallurgists, engineers, sales, production and administrative staff, including three apprentices. Many of these employees, as well as local business professionals, invested in this start up business.

The LSN Diffusion products are sold worldwide including to the advanced economies of NAFTA, EU, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Australasia, the emerging markets such as the BRICS, South America, and developing countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

LSN Diffusion Ltd is a joint venture with Diffusion Engineers Ltd, an Indian company based in Nagpur.
