Vax to open new distribution centre at Stonebridge Cross

Planning consent has been granted for a 231,420 sq ft storage and distribution warehouse at Stonebridge Cross in Droitwich, Worcestershire for the UK’s number one floorcare brand*, Vax.

The scheme, a joint development between Birmingham developers Stoford and landowner AXA REIM, is located on the last remaining plot at the 77 acre business park. The announcement follows Vax’s recent placing for the ‘Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work for 2014’ listing.

The facility includes two storey office space for a call centre, car parking, loading yard and landscaping. The site sits in parkland with an area of native woodland to the rear.

John Upperton, operations director at Vax said: “We are delighted to have signed a 15 year agreement with AXA Real Estate to lease a new business facility in Droitwich, Worcestershire.

“This agreement marks an exciting new phase of expansion of the Vax business and also recognises the long-term commitment Vax has made to the Droitwich area, and its staff, since it was first founded in 1977.

“As the business continues to grow, the new facility will house our warehouse and specialist Droitwich teams including the Contact Centre.

“The agreement demonstrates the importance Vax places in providing its current staff with the best working environment possible, and also provides the room needed to expand our workforce even further.”

Currently Vax employs around 200 people in Droitwich, in job roles ranging from Product Design, Engineering, Customer Support, Warehousing and Logistics

David Brown, director at Stoford said:
“Stonebridge Cross has proved to be an attractive location for a broad range of businesses including national manufacturers and distributors, thanks to its strategic location next to the Midlands’ motorway hubs. We’re delighted to be able to develop the last major plot on this site for Vax.”

Work has commenced on site, with completion planned for late summer.
There are 16 existing occupiers at Stonebridge Cross including Atchison Topeka and Robert Wiseman Dairies.
