Growing Welsh construction company opens first builders’ merchant in Pontyclun

Fast-growing Welsh construction company Green Hill Construction has opened its first builders’ merchant business, in premises on Hepworth Park in Pontyclun.

The new Green Hill Merchants business will offer a full range of building and roofing products to the South Wales building trade and general public. Craig Harcombe, area manager of Green Hill Merchants, said: “In time, we plan to open further branches stretching from West Wales to the M4 corridor.”

Acting on behalf of Green Hill, letting agents Knight Frank identified the Unit 1E 9,900 sq ft warehouse and trade counter unit with yard on a 1.5 acre site at Hepworth Park, Pontyclun. The company has taken a five year lease at an annual rent rising to £56,700. Landlord Formaction Ltd was advised by Middleton Perry.

Neil Francis, industrial associate at Knight Frank, said: “The units at Hepworth Park are just two years old and – importantly for Green Hill – are very well located, being just a few minutes from the M4 and accessible from both Cardiff and Bridgend.”

Green Hill, based in Newport, specialises in the procurement, design and construction of new build affordable homes for registered social landlords across South Wales and has grown rapidly since it was established seven years ago.

Craig Harcombe said: “We feel the time is right to take this step into supporting the South Wales building trade, and will be supplying everything to construct a building from its foundations to the finished item. It’s an exciting development for the company.”

Green Hill Merchants will employ nine people at the new premises.
