The concerns of businesses in Wales were taken to Westminster yesterday (Thursday 2 May) when the president of the South Wales Chamber of Commerce met with the Prime Minister David Cameron.
James Emery attended the meeting at Downing Street as part of a delegation from the British Chambers of Commerce to brief the Prime Minister and key officials on the vital work carried out by accredited Chambers of Commerce across the country.
He used the opportunity to raise a number of issues of particular importance to Wales, including the problems many Welsh businesses face accessing overseas markets, and the difficulty Wales has retaining its home-grown entrepreneurs and businesses.
Mr Emery said: “This was a great opportunity to meet with the Prime Minister and his staff who really seemed to grasp the difficulties that many businesses in the UK are facing when it comes to exporting.
“This is particularly true here in Wales and as a country we need to be doing much more to help businesses break into the international market. I was pleased to hear that this is also a priority for the UK Government and I hope that this meeting will be a catalyst for further measures to boost the exports across the UK, but especially here in Wales.”
