Independent fuel and energy distributor Watson Fuels has chosen Bourn as the location for its new headquarters and flagship office, bringing one of the UK’s longest-established fuel businesses to the landmark Coventry workspace.
The company, which celebrates its 70th anniversary next year and employs approximately 450 people across the UK, has agreed a letting for 7,150 sq ft at Bourn as part of a wider move to create a more future-focused working environment for its teams.
With 39 depots located nationwide and some operational employees working remotely, Watson Fuels said finding a centrally located headquarters with strong transport connections was a key consideration in the move.
Located close to Coventry train station and in the heart of the city, Bourn will provide a central base where colleagues, customers and suppliers can come together more regularly to collaborate, build relationships and host company-wide gatherings.
The move also reflects the company’s ambition to create an inspiring and wellbeing-focused workplace environment for employees, alongside opportunities to engage with the wider occupier community and events programme already established at Bourn.
Bourn provides a net zero-ready, smart-enabled workplace powered by energy from renewable sources designed to reduce environmental impact while creating healthy, inclusive spaces for those who work there. It holds a BREEAM Very Good certification and an EPC A rating, reflecting its strong environmental credentials.
Rob Hemus, director of asset Management and sustainability said: “Welcoming Watson Fuels to Bourn is another strong endorsement of the quality of workspace and occupier experience being created here.
“The move demonstrates how businesses are increasingly seeking high-quality, well-connected environments that support collaboration, wellbeing and company culture, particularly as hybrid working continues to evolve.
“We’re delighted Watson Fuels has chosen Bourn for its new headquarters and flagship office and look forward to supporting the team as they settle into their new Coventry home.”
Bourn has continued to attract a growing mix of occupiers and is over 85 per cent let, with occupiers including Prospect, FireAngel, Corona Energy, Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Global Insurance Management, and Dexcel Pharma.
