Watling Real Estate has sold a major site in Cambridgeshire which is part of a portfolio brought to the market following the collapse of the Godwin Group last year.
The 8.5 acre site in Wisbech has been purchased by an undisclosed party for £3 million.
The opportunity was placed on the market on behalf of joint fixed charge receivers Andrew Foster and Chris Walker in September 2025 and quickly garnered strong interest.
Alex Sweetman, a director in Watling’s Leeds office said: “The Wisbech Gateway scheme has planning permission for a commercial business park delivering a mix of industrial units, a petrol filling station, retail kiosk, “drive thru” restaurants, hotel and associated infrastructure.
“It is in a key roadside location just 1.5 miles south of Wisbech town centre, next to the busy A47 Wisbech Bypass.”
An estimated 5 million vehicle movements pass the site on the A47 each year. The freehold site, previously under the control of Godwin Group, was one of five opportunities brought to market by Watling with additional agency appointments in central Derby, St Paul’s in Bristol, Erdington in Birmingham and Hockley Heath near Solihull.
Sweetman added: “Following a successful marketing campaign, we are very pleased to have handed over the reins of this regionally significant development site to the purchaser.
Laura Goody, Partner at Ward Hadaway in Leeds acted for Watling Real Estate in the sale.
