Leading commercial and industrial property specialist Towngate Plc has supported the expansion of long-standing tenant Lambson Innovate Limited, a 60-year-old British manufacturer of precision-engineered products, with a move to a newly refurbished 64,700 sq ft facility at Normanton Industrial Estate.
Marking its 60th anniversary, Lambson has relocated from a 23,700 sq ft Towngate-owned site at Treefields Industrial Estate, Gildersome, after more than six years of trading from the unit. The new Loscoe Close facility sits just 10 minutes from Lambson’s main site, enabling the manufacturer to bring importing, container handling, and customs clearance in-house for the first time.
The move reflects a wider shift across UK industrial markets, with manufacturers accounting for a growing share of take-up as businesses build supply-chain resilience and seek modern, energy-efficient space. Lambson supplies the leisure, marine, and construction sectors, producing hundreds of thousands of made-to-order components every month from West Yorkshire, employing more than 100 people from across the region.
Towngate has invested more than £1m in upgrading the property ahead of occupation, with works including a full re-roof, new roller shutter doors, complete warehouse redecoration, refurbished offices and welfare facilities, and external improvements – delivered in close consultation with Lambson to tailor the building to its operational requirements.
David Bean, managing director of Lambson Innovate, said: “This expansion is a significant step forward for Lambson Innovate. Bringing our importing, container handling, and customs processes in-house will make our supply chain more efficient and resilient, and the additional space gives us room to extend new manufacturing processes onto a second site. Having worked with Towngate for more than six years, they were the natural partner for our next phase of growth.
“As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, this move provides the capability to grow market share, enter new markets, and continue investing in smarter ways to serve our customers.”
Unit E Loscoe Close is a 64,700 sq ft industrial and distribution facility with a 9.1m eaves height, seven dock-level loading doors, secure concrete service yards, LED-lit warehouse space, and two-storey offices. The estate is home to occupiers including Asda, Royal Mail, DHL, Haribo, and Argos.
Tom Lamb, property director at Towngate plc, added: “Lambson Innovate is exactly the kind of business we love supporting – a long-established British manufacturer with a clear growth plan. After six successful years together at Gildersome, it was a privilege to be the landlord they turned to when they needed to expand. Investing in the refurbishment of Loscoe Close to their specification was a straightforward decision, and a reflection of where the industrial market is heading: quality, energy-efficient space delivered by landlords who can move quickly to meet occupier needs.”
Lambson Innovate will be fully operational from the new site by the end of May 2026.
