Stratford College London takes space at Sugar House Island

Developer Vastint UK has signed a deal with Stratford College London to take space at Sugar House Island’s Dane’s Yard quarter. The college will take 5,514 sq ft on a seven-year lease for its newest site, offering higher education opportunities across a number of vocational courses.

The deal marks Dane’s Yard, which was the Sugar House Island’s first phase of commercial development, as 100% let. Stratford College London joins the Island’s integrated business and education community, also home to other education providers supporting intergenerational learning, such as East London Dance, UD Music, School 360, The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education and the University of Huddersfield’s first London campus.

Dan Westley, head of portfolio at Vastint UK, said, “This latest deal marks a huge milestone for the Island, with our first workplace district, Dane’s Yard, now 100% occupied.

What’s even more exciting is what the organisations at Dane’s Yard represent. When we set out to regenerate this former industrial site in London’s East End, our vision was for a mixed-use neighbourhood and an integrated community of students, professionals, creatives and disruptors. Today, this vision is very much a reality.

Over the last 12 months, we have seen demand for space on the Island go from strength to strength. Organisations and businesses are seeking out quality buildings and spaces, in well-connected and well-managed locations, and Sugar House Island is perfectly situated to meet these business needs.”

Dane’s Yard houses an eclectic mix of tenants across industries, including creative businesses such as Jim & Tonic East’s gin and rum bars and distilleries, art publishers Phaidon and film restoration specialists R3store Studios.

Sugar House Island is a 26-acre neighbourhood, located a 5-minute walk from Pudding Mill Lane station and a 15-minute walk from Stratford station. Upon completion of the Island’s 15-year masterplan, it will boast 624,000 sq ft of office and educational space, 40,000 sq ft of retail and leisure and 1,200 homes. The latest phase of development, Chimney Walk, comprises 220,000 sq ft of education and office commercial space, and 23,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space for independent brands.
