New faces join expanding Dorset company

Wessex Fire and Security has welcomed two highly experienced staff to the company who together bring 71 years’ experience in the industry.

The Dorset-based firm that works in both domestic and commercial markets in all areas of fire and security plans to expand during the year ahead.

It has welcomed Tim Mitchell, who will focus on the maintenance side of the business, and Philip Yeates, a fire surveyor.

Tim previously worked for Poole-based Secure Alarms and brings 42 years’ experience with him.

Philip joins Wessex from Southern Fire Alarms based in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, and has been in the industry for almost 30 years.

Wessex Fire and Security now employs nearly 80 staff and works across the south with a turnover of £7 million.

The company is part of the Wessex Group, based in Shaftesbury, Dorset, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Wessex Fire and Security’s managing director Chris Stott said: “We are delighted to have brought on board two highly experienced staff.

“Tim previously worked for one of our competitors and as well as securing new business he will help serve our existing clients.

“We have a great maintenance team but we are always looking at ways to stay ahead and believe Tim will help us do this.

“We will now be able to offer our clients an even better service and that is something we are always looking to do.

“Philip is a hugely experienced fire surveyor with a great knowledge of the industry and the products available.

“He will work in our existing team headed by Mark Taylor and will provide Wessex with additional capacity.

“Both these roles are vital for the business and the extra experience will put us at an advantage and take us to the next step.”

Philip said: “I used to work for Gent, a longstanding specialist fire systems supplier to Wessex, and for a time I looked after Wessex’s account. Joining Wessex was an easy decision to make.”

Tim said: “Of course I was already aware of Wessex and having started I am suitably impressed with the company.”
