Indoor skate park flies into Nottingham

BMX riders and skate boarders can rejoice – Nottingham’s first ever indoor skate park has opened.

Flo-Skateparks Ltd has taken up unit 5 in Poulton Drive in the city, in a deal by property agent Innes England.

The unit is off Daleside Road, close to Notts County Football Club and within the Waterside Regeneration Zone. Flo-Skate Parks has acquired 21,000 sq ft of space, purposely fitted out for BMX riders and skate boarders.

Flo-Skateparks has been building indoor and outdoor ramps for ten years. The site at Poulton Drive is a “perfect position,” says Chris Straw, managing director at Flo-Skateparks.

He said: “I have extensive experience building skate parks and skate ramps throughout the UK and am delighted we have become Nottingham’s first venue of its kind. The property gives us the space we needed in a prime location.

“The sheer size and layout of the warehouse offers the flexibility for the park to grow and adapt – and many possibilities for developing the outside space. It also has a fantastic viewing gallery which makes it ideal for events and competitions.

“Flo-Skateparks wants to be proud of a skate park where the staff, who are some of the best riders and skaters in the land, can inspire young people to improve their riding skills and give them a word of encouragement.”

Flo-Skateparks is working with Custom Riders, which has set up a shop at the venue selling bike and skateboard equipment and clothing. Custom Riders already has a strong online operation and has seized this opportunity to expand its retail operation into Nottingham.

Scott Osborne, associate director at Innes England, acted on behalf of the landlord.

He said: “This is a prime location for Flo-Skateparks. Nottingham has been eagerly waiting for a facility like this.

“I am delighted that the successful completion of Flo-Skateparks means that we have 100% occupancy for our client and achieving over 150,000 sq ft of lettings in the last 18 months. I wish Chris and all of his team at Flo-Skate Parks all the best for the future”.
