Paradise Birmingham is welcoming another major international professional services business to its growing employment hub at Two Chamberlain Square.

Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, a fully integrated professional services and project management company with offices around the world, will move its established Birmingham office to Paradise by taking 36,000 sq ft of space across two floors on a fifteen year lease overlooking the very heart of the city and Chamberlain Square.

Atkins hopes to complete its move to Paradise in autumn this year following the fit-out of its new space. The move enables Atkins to bring new, more collaborative ways of working to its local office and creates new wellbeing and break out areas for its 850 Birmingham staff.

Denise Raisey, Atkins Regional Director – Corporate Real Estate, Workplace and Services, said: ‘Our new home in the city is not just a great quality workplace in the heart of Birmingham, but it will provide our teams with excellent collaboration spaces to work together across our divisions to deliver for our local, national and international clients.

‘Our new space will give us the opportunity to embrace fully agile working, with excellent collaboration opportunities for teams to work in designated ‘villages’ that facilitate greater choice in both how and when colleagues work.
‘This flexibility, combined with the best location in the city, will create a step-change in our effectiveness and ability to service clients as the economy recovers in the post-Covid world.”

Two Chamberlain Square was designed by Glenn Howells Architects and offers a total of 183,000 sq ft of commercial space across seven floors. It presents some of the best views in Birmingham with stunning vistas across Chamberlain Square itself and of the city’s impressive Classical and Victorian civic architecture.

Rob Groves, regional development director with Paradise development manager MEPC, said: ‘Atkins is another very welcome addition to Two Chamberlain Square where we have now created one of the city’s major professional services hubs. We’re tremendously excited to be welcoming yet another major international professional services brand to the Paradise estate.

‘On top of other recent occupier announcements from Arup, DLA Piper, Knights and Mazars, this move shows the momentum behind Paradise as we make progress with phase two of the development.’

PwC, the leading professional services firm, has already moved its Birmingham team to One Chamberlain Square while DLA Piper has taken the top two floors of Two Chamberlain Square. Further lettings have been announced for the building, including space going to Knights, Mazars and now Atkins, while Arup has taken space at One Centenary Way, currently under construction and due to complete in early 2023.

At almost 2 million square feet, Paradise is delivering up to ten new flagship buildings, offering offices, shops, bars, cafés, restaurants, a four star hotel and a 49 storey residential tower across 17 acres in the heart of the city.

The Paradise redevelopment is being brought forward through Paradise Circus Limited Partnership (PCLP), a private-public joint venture with Birmingham City Council. The private sector funding is being managed by Federated Hermes, which has partnered with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) on the first phase of the development. MEPC is the development manager.

Paradise sits in the country’s largest city centre Enterprise Zone and has already benefited from investment by the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) in enabling and infrastructure works.
