Site acquired for development of a new ambulance hub for West Midlands Ambulance Service

Hortons Estate Ltd have announced the acquisition of a three acre site in Ibstock Road, Coventry upon part of which will see them develop a new building for use by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Hortons have been working closely with WMAS for their new facility in Coventry following the association that they established with the Service following the new building that Hortons are developing for them at Ashmore Lake Way in Willenhall.

The Coventry site is close to Wayside Business Park, a 10 acre site also owned by Hortons and so is a well known location to them, around one mile from junction 3 of the M6 and close to the Ricoh Arena.

Work has commenced on the new building for WMAS at Ibstock Road with the facility being completed in Spring 2013.

In addition Hortons will be developing the balance of the site for smaller starter type units.

Richard Norgrove, Property Director of Hortons Estate, commented:

“We are delighted to have acquired a site in such a prominent location and close to an existing site of ours. We are pleased to have worked with West Midlands Ambulance Service in their on-going requirements and will be aiming to provide a first class facility. It is good to be working with them again following the development of a facility for them at our site at Electrium Point in Willenhall. We look forward to bringing forward the development for their occupation in 2013”.

Simon Lewis, Head of Estates at West Midlands Ambulance Service, commented:-
“We are pleased to be working with Hortons again in the development of our new vehicle preparation and maintenance hub in Coventry. The hub will operate 24/7 and will produce efficiencies that will enable the Service to provide an even better level of patient care”.
