EDGE, a leading property and construction consultancy, has completed work on a state-of-the-art endoscopy unit – a £26.5 million facility operated by Lincoln County Hospital.
The Lincoln Endoscopy Unit is a 1,972 sqm purpose-built outpatient facility, which provides four endoscopy procedure rooms, with capacity for a further two future expansion rooms, alongside 12 dedicated preparation and recovery pods.
Now completed, the project has been delivered by EDGE through the NHS ProCure23 Framework and supports the increasing demand for diagnostic services across the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
EDGE provided NEC4 project management, NEC supervision, design coordination, programme support and healthcare planning services throughout the scheme.
Located alongside the main hospital, the development provides both a standalone diagnostic unit that improves patient privacy and enhances dignity while also creating a calmer and more efficient patient journey.
It also includes a dedicated patient interview room and decontamination facilities, accessible drop-off spaces, booking and administrative workspaces, generous staff welfare facilities and a live training suite to support workforce development and clinical education.
Future-proofed to support the Trust’s long-term healthcare strategy, the additional capacity will enable it to significantly increase diagnostic throughput, reduce wait times, and support earlier diagnosis and treatment for patients across the region.
Designed to the highest quality standards, the scheme has achieved BREEAM Excellent certification and Secured by Design Gold accreditation.

EDGE delivered its specialist services from its Nottingham office, with a project team comprising of Nev Bould, Dan Tofan, Carl Smith, Peter Bradwell, Joe Burns, Paula Atkin and Simon Brown.
The Endoscopy Unit adds to the consultancy’s growing portfolio of flagship healthcare projects, including the country’s first National Rehabilitation Centre in Nottingham, Cambridge Children’s Hospital and two new adult acute care units for Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Alongside EDGE, the project team included architect P+HS, structural engineers Price & Myers, M&E partner Derry Building Services and contractor Bowman + Kirkland.
