Senior/Associate Planner (Oxfordshire)

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a chartered town planner to join an expanding consultancy in Bedfordshire. We are ideally looking for an Associate but could also consider a strong Senior Planner looking for a progressive opportunity. This position will be based in Oxfordshire or Bedfordshire depending on where the ideal candidate is based.

You will be joining a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary office with an established client base. Planning is one of this organisation’s key services and they have 3 other offices with busy planning teams in each who can provide additional support. We are looking for a key individual to assist in growing the planning division within the company and specifically be the key contact in the Oxfordshire/Bedfordshire office for town planning. The firm’s client list offers a good variety to your project workload including residential, commercial, mixed-use, infrastructure as well as some rural, utilities and energy work. You will be working with an impressive list of housebuilders (ranging from smaller, regional developers to larger national housebuilders), commercial developers, land owners, prestigious estates, corporations and utility companies. There is a good pipeline of work to be getting on with but at this level we are also looking for candidates who have good contacts to develop, continually building upon this. You should be a confident networker and enjoy this side. The firm have a good flow of leads coming through from other disciplines in the office as well which have good potential for further development.

Key tasks include; preparing and submitting planning applications for a range of developments; development feasibility appraisals, providing bespoke advice to the firm’s client list; managing and coordinating project teams, managing appeals and enforcement issues as well as policy representations.

Candidates should be MRTPI, preferably with some consultancy experience but local authority backgrounds will also be considered (if the experience has been gained from authorities in the area). We are looking for strong communication skills, confident networkers, a skilled negotiator, good report writing skills, an aspiring business developer, a commercial head for business, proficient in IT systems and a holder of a full UK driving licence. Some people management/mentoring experience is advantageous but not essential.
