Beach Baker are pleased to be representing a successful multi-disciplinary consultancy in the Bedfordshire area, specifically for their acquisition of a Senior Town Planner. This firm have a strong reputation across the East and West Midlands as well as within the Northern Home Counties. You will be joining an established planning team within a good-sized office offering staff parking and a non-corporate, supportive environment.

This firm have an established and loyal client base because of their professional and bespoke approach to clients offering them assistance throughout the whole development process. This includes site visits and development appraisals, advising clients on the planning potential of sites, submission of planning applications and the promotion of sites through the LDF system often taking projects through very complex planning issues and overcoming the hurdles that often occur with such schemes. The work will be a variety or project types to include residential, commercial, mixed-use, rural, change of use and the firm are very encouraging of client contact meaning you will get the chance to build your own client relationships and project management skills as well as really progress in your career.

Candidates will need to be MRTPI qualified and have substantial UK based planning experience. This will have been gained in either a consultancy led environment or we can also consider those coming from a local authority background (development management experience preferred). You will be operating around the Senior Planner level and be comfortable managing small-medium scale projects independently whilst also supporting on larger schemes. We can consider a strong planner and would expect this candidate to have around 2-6 years’ experience although the appointment will be confirmed on merit and suitability. You will have a good understanding of the development process and a good grasp of planning legislation. You should be ambitious and driven by success whilst possessing excellent presentation, report writing and communication skills. You should be confident with client liaison, attending planning meetings and appraisals and have experience of managing planning applications taking the initiative to be able to work in a team but also independently when required.
