Planning Director/Associate Director (Birmingham)

Posted on: 19/03/2019 ~ Company:

Are you an MRTPI Town Planner operating at Associate level or above in Birmingham? Do you want to work for a market leading brand? We are representing one of our key clients in their search for a senior recruit to launch a Birmingham planning team for a national multi-disciplinary consultancy. This is a well-known practice with a network of offices throughout the UK (including planning teams in other locations). Their Birmingham office is very established and adding planning to their offering will further enhance their reputation in the Midlands.

We are looking for an MRTPI qualified Associate, AD or Director who is well-connected in the Midlands planning market. Ideally you will have a few clients of your own but the key thing is the ability to generate work from leads, encourage cross-selling within the business and the drive and commerciality to grow a department. The firm are excellent at their marketing/brand awareness, so you will have a very strong name behind you when you are pitching for work and representing clients and although you will initially be the sole planner in Birmingham, you will be part of a national team. There is also the opportunity to bring another individual or team with you if you have a sufficient client following to support that from day one.

The successful candidate will have strong consultancy experience gained at a similar level, as a firm the portfolio is varied to include schemes in the residential, mixed-use, commercial, retail, infrastructure, industrial and office sectors. Therefore, we could consider a generalist or a specialist. Your role will include pre-app advice, feasibility work, site promotion, preparing and submitting planning applications, S106 negotiations, appeal work, liaising with and coordinating internal and external project teams, developing internal and external relationships and encouraging cross-selling within the business as well as building the brand and pitching for new work. You should thrive in a fee earning environment and enjoy networking, building and maintaining strong client relationships and be able to work well to deadlines.

You will be rewarded with a competitive salary and benefits package, structured progression and a great opportunity to build a name for yourself within a great brand.

To apply for this role and to discuss it further please do not hesitate to contact Ruth Hoggett ([email protected]). By clicking apply, please be assured that your CV will not be sent to the client until you have been fully briefed on the role and given permission for us to do so. We will confidentially retain your details and inform you of any other suitable opportunities arising should you not be successful in this role.
