Financial Controller

Beach Baker has been instructed on behalf of a leading international real estate business who offer a comprehensive range of property services to source for a Client Side Financial Controller for their offices based in Birmingham. The Financial Controller will be required to support the Head of Property Management Business Line and lead a small team of Client Reporting Accountants and responsible for all aspects of Client and property accounting within an assigned portfolio. This role will be responsible for the Finance Services group that provides, reporting and analysis for the company’s entire portfolio of Clients.

Deliverables:

• Ensuring that all client and property accounting services are delivered to a consistently high standard and to the service levels required.
• Completing service charge reconciliations.
• Supervising the work of Client Reporting Accountants and Data Manager.
• Monitoring funding levels and initiating payments to clients and/or funding requests.
• Co-ordinating work of the team and resolving all queries arising.
• Managing the relationships with all external clients.
• Supporting internal stakeholders, managing relationships, providing business analysis advice.
• Directing the team of 3 that report to the position (plus others where relevant),providing leadership and motivation and continually developing talent as appropriate.
• Designing, improving and implementing the control frame, coordinating with Risk and Internal Audit teams when required.

The role will also include further responsibilities such as managing team targets and budget expenditure, Clients and business development to help identify and grow new business opportunities. You will be required to also manage Client Accounting and Reporting Team as well as providing coaching and mentoring of others when required and always looking to evaluate, adapt and improve standards, techniques and procedures.

Person specification:

• Accounting qualification such as an ACMA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Good technical accounting background with experience a commercial financial environment.
• Microsoft Office, Excel and Access to an advanced level.
• Experience of managing or supervising others effectively.
• Has dealt regularly with senior management.
• Fully competent in all UK Accounting Standards.
• Experience of having developed a financial budgeting and reporting system.
• Experience of leading property management and accounting packages for managing agents.
• Experience of accounting techniques, internal/external reporting, finance operations.
