DEPUTY RURAL ESTATES MANAGER /FACTOR SCOTTISH ISLAND
£35,000 – £40,000 plus Car plus Excellent Pension plus Healthcare
Beach Baker is pleased to be assisting with this exceptional opportunity to CHANGE YOUR LIFESTYLE where a suitably qualified candidate will move to an island off mainland Scotland in the capacity of Deputy Factor / Estates Manager. You will manage a sizeable and mixed portfolio of assets, which includes a large number of farms, active commercial sites and residential properties.
The location offers a unique opportunity to live and work on an island with an abundance of nature and activities for you and your family. You will work from an ancestral Mansion House on the Island and there are a number of primary, secondary schools and colleges and the island offers all services you will require, from hospitals to supermarkets.
Your role will be to ensure the effective and smooth management of the estate, undertaking the day-to-day management of assets and land to support the Factor who will focus on more strategic projects.
Within this role, you will:-
Draft and approve commercial tenancy agreements
Manage Commercial consents and the general day-to-day management of easements, wayleaves etc.
Review and agree the policies and procedures for effective management of the portfolio
Liaise/inspect the estate to develop accurate ownership plans
Support and be involved in key projects with the Factor
Handle tenancy and other agreements
Manage/maintain the residential portfolio and handle tenant enquiries
Manage the portfolio maintenance plan
Oversee contractors for minor farm repairs
Manage residential property inspections and maintenance workload
Ensure statutory compliance
Candidates will have:-
Strong communication skills
A love and understanding for the countryside and rural community
Ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders and tenants
Knowledge of issues which relate to agricultural assets, for example boundaries, fallen trees, etc
Contractor management experience
MRICS professional qualification – ideally CAAV qualified
Estate management experience and a technical knowledge of agricultural legislation
Whilst c1.5 hours from Glasgow, candidates will be expected to reside on the island. There are residential properties to purchase or rent – with a typical family home being c£500/month.
