Clientside Assistant Planner (Midlands)

Are you a Graduate/Assistant level Town Planner in the Midlands looking to make the move to a forward-thinking, ambitious clientside organisation? I am exclusively retained on behalf of a Strategic Land Promoter and Residential Developer based in the Midlands who are looking to add to their internal planning team with a bright, hard-working assistant planner.

This organisation are a privately owned and funded company who operate across a 2 hour radius from their Midlands base. They are an ambitious team who care deeply about the local communities they are working with and not only pride themselves on providing quality builds and the highest level of service for land owners, they also give a lot back to the community via charity work and support for worthwhile causes and various local groups/organisations.

This firm typically add value to land via planning so having an exceptional in-house planning team is so important to them. This role will be reporting to the Planning Director and will be joining a team of four planners. You will be involved in all stages of land promotion from preparing planning reps to Local Plans through to preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals as well as managing external consultants where required. This role would suit either a fresh graduate straight out of university, or an assistant planner with up to 18 months experience. We are looking for candidates who currently live or have links to the Midlands area.

The successful candidate will have the following skills/qualifications:

  • RTPI accredited masters degree ideally at 2:1 or above
  • Licentiate Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute working towards full membership
  • Knowledge of the planning process and local/national planning policy as well as Development Management
  • A full UK driving license and access to a car
  • Excellent analytical skills and a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Strong report writing skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work to deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
