Associate Director/Planning Director (Devon)

Posted on: 06/12/2016 ~ Company:

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director or Director to lead and build a small planning team part of a multi-disciplinary consultancy in Devon. You will be joining an established office with a good name in planning across the South West so you will have a good brand behind you. The office offers parking, good transport links (20-minute walk from the main train station and 15-minute drive to get on to the M5) and a friendly and supportive environment.

There is a strong pipeline of work and existing client base for you to come into so whilst we don’t necessarily require additional work to come across with you, we are looking for a proven business winner, ideally with good contacts in the area but for the right person we may consider a relocator with a history of successful business development elsewhere in the country. The work you would be doing includes residential, mixed-use, commercial, conservation and listed building works and some public sector contracts. This is for a mix of residential and commercial developers, private landowners, property companies and public sector organisations. Responsibilities will include; planning feasibility studies, preparing and submitting planning applications, managing any appeal work; coordinating external teams; public consultation work; project management; mentoring and team management; business development; building and enhancing the company brand as well as your own profile through referrals, networking, repeat business; cross-selling the company’s other disciplines; growing the team and planning service within the Devon office.

Candidates need to be MRTPI and have at least some recent or ideally current consultancy experience to provide the confidence in the business development side of the role. We are looking for similar project experience as the above, so essentially a ‘generalist’ who can turn their hand to a wide variety of developments, although there is more of a lean towards residential and mixed-use at the moment so some experience in this area is preferred. You should have a commercial approach to business, ideally experience of managing others but this is not essential as support on this side will be provided, have strong presentation skills, confident in a client facing role and enjoy a hands on planning role.

The successful candidate will not only enjoy a fulfilling planning role in a beautiful part of the country but they will also be rewarded with a competitive salary and benefits package, good bonus scheme and excellent progression as this role offers great scope for growth.

To apply for this role please contact Ruth Hoggett. By clicking apply, please be assured that your CV will not be sent to the client until you have been fully briefed on the role and given permission for us to do so. We will confidentially retain your details and inform you of any other suitable opportunities arising should you not be successful in this role.
