A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an assistant planner to join an expanding consultancy in Hampshire. This firm have a great reputation locally and their portfolio extends across Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey, Berkshire and East/West Sussex. The role is to be based in their picturesque office just outside of Portsmouth (parking is available for staff).

We are looking for an assistant planner to support the Directors in delivering a varied portfolio of projects for both private and public sector clients. The projects include; residential, commercial, mixed-use, regeneration, education schemes for clients including; housebuilders, commercial developers, land-owners and student accommodation providers. The firm pride themselves on a quality client service and the lead directors are very well connected through the region so you’ll have a great independent brand behind you. Your role will include; planning history searches; preparing planning statements; feasibility studies, land appraisals for immediate and strategic sites, policy analysis for strategic site promotion, preparing and submitting planning applications, meeting local authorities and other organisations relating to projects (to include assisting in presenting to planning committee) offering bespoke planning advice to clients and meeting clients thus building excellent, professional relationships.

We are looking for candidates with an RTPI accredited degree (preferably to master’s level) with some connection to the area whether that be living locally or a relocator with knowledge of the area and a draw to the region. Some practical planning work experience is advantageous to give you a head start in applying yourself to the role but full training is provided. Additional key criteria for this role are; excellent report writing skills, good communication and presentation ability, an organised nature, confidence in client facing environments, a ‘can-do’ attitude and being able to work well to deadlines. You must hold a full driving licence and own a car.
