Screwfix pre-let Warminster trade park unit

The fast-growing Warminster Business Park continues to expand – attracting major players such as Screwfix to the newly developed Swan Business Centre.

Screwfix, the UK’s largest tools and hardware giant, had pre-let a frontage unit on an established Warminster trading estate and is now operating successfully from the park.

The industry giant agreed a 15-year lease of a 5,000 sq ft (464.50 sq m) warehouse unit at Warminster Business Park in a deal negotiated by property consultancy Myddelton & Major.

The unit forms part of a 1.72-acre (0.72-hectare) plot, developed by Nationwide Rail Ltd, of 19 starter units, known as the Swan Business Centre.

These were all sold off plan to local occupiers and investors, comprising a total of 27,500 sq ft. Some of these units will be available to let upon practical completion of construction.

Myddelton & Major Partner Philip Holford said: “Attracting such a major industry player as Screwfix – which has a network of more than 650 stores across the UK – shows just how Warminster is developing.

“This pre-let is further proof of the growing demand for modern, purpose-built units in an area which has been crying out for new development.

“The company offers more than 11,000 products in stores with a full range of over 33,000 products available to order, with screwfix.com attracting five million visits a week.”

Screwfix was founded in Yeovil in 1979 as the Woodscrew Supply Company, subsequently being acquired in July 1999 by multinational retail giant Kingfisher plc which owns B&Q.

Warminster Business Park is situated to the south west of Warminster town centre with direct access to the Bath Road, within striking distance of the strategic junction of the A36 bypass and A350 with adjacent petrol filling station and Hotel.

Occupiers on the Business Park include Dents, Travis Perkins, Howdens Joinery, NH Case, G & T Packaging & Wiltshire Council.

Warminster, the large market and garrison town at the heart of Wiltshire on the A36 between Salisbury and Bath, serves a local population of 17,490, a district population of 127,900 and a substantial garrison based in the town.
