Avison Young unveils its 2020 development map of Bristol

Avison Young has unveiled its 2020 Bristol development map, which outlines where development is taking place, where opportunities exist, and how infrastructure is changing the dynamics of the city.

With an ambitious pipeline of projects and infrastructure already underway in Bristol, a platform for the city’s continued success is being built, acting as a conduit to attract new people, businesses and investment, reinforcing Bristol’s strength as a desirable place to live and work and its annual contribution of £14.2billion into the UK economy.

Jo Davis, managing director for Planning Development and Regeneration at Avison Young, comments:

“Bristol is a city with a proud heritage and an exciting future. It takes inspiration from the engineering genius of Brunel to the excellent education establishments in the city providing a motivated and forward-thinking workforce.

“Over the last decade the city has seen much change, and now once again development is poised to transform Bristol.

Jo continues, “Investment into infrastructure – including the South Bristol Link Road, MetroBus and Temple Gate – allows us to stretch our development aspirations out of the city centre. From Frome Gateway that will knit St Paul’s and Easton back into the city across the outdated infrastructure of the M32; St Philip’s and the University Campus at Temple Quarter, across to Western Harbour and Bedminster, each acting as the four pillars of growth for the city centre; to the new and exciting opportunities for sustainable communities – Brabazon Filton Airfield through to Hengrove Grove, there are ambitious plans for the coming decade to create places and spaces that really work for people.”

She concludes, “Bristol contributes a massive £14.2billion to the UK economy. We’re the largest city in the South West and the tenth in Great Britain. Our employment rate is higher than the GB average. This contribution to UK plc will only continue to grow as Bristol thrives. The opportunities this brings for development in the city are phenomenal.”
