CBRE and Ryden secure new occupiers for 9 George Square

Global real estate advisor CBRE and joint agent Ryden have announced they have secured another two new occupiers for Grade A office development 9 George Square in Glasgow on behalf of landlord EPIC.

Engineering design consultancy Stantec has taken the entire fifth floor on a ten year lease, relocating from an office on West George Street following business expansion.

The Scottish Government has moved its skills body from a 4,809 sq ft suite on the ground floor to take full occupation of the seventh floor (6,871 sq ft). After a refurbishment project in 2015, the seventh floor accommodation has a bespoke specification with exposed building services and contemporary finishes.

The two lettings follow on from a number of other deals at the building in the last year, resulting in just two floors remaining available.

Commercial property information and analytics company CoStar Group now occupies 3,566 sq ft on the ninth floor. The firm relocated from its previous office on West Nile Street to more efficient space at 9 George Square to maintain a long term presence in Glasgow.

In addition R&D tax credit specialist Leyton Legal now occupies the eighth floor (6,218 sq ft). It relocated from St Vincent Street to a larger office in 9 George Square following a period of sustained growth.

They join other occupiers at the building including Orega, which opened a business centre last year and operates on the first, second and third floors, and business travel firm Egencia, which is based on the sixth floor.

The recent flurry of lettings has resulted in space being available across the ground and fourth floors only, totalling 12,011 sq ft.

Andy Cunningham, senior director at CBRE, commented: “It is great news that we’ve been able to let another two floors at 9 George Square so quickly after a number of other deals at the building. The location, facilities and the high specification available within 9 George Square have proven extremely popular with a diverse range of companies and I’m pleased to say that the building is now almost at full occupation with only two floors remaining.”

Occupying a prominent position in the heart of Glasgow’s Central Business District, 9 George Square comprises ten levels of high specification open plan office space behind a classic period façade. The building offers secure underground parking, a striking entrance and reception area and shower facilities on each floor. Its unrivalled location benefits from extensive transport links and excellent proximity to a wide range of shops and restaurants.

CBRE and Ryden represented the landlord EPIC, whilst Stantec was represented by CBRE and the Scottish Government by Avison Young.
