Europa starts work on £60million logistics project in Northampton

Leading independent logistics operator Europa Worldwide Group has chosen Northamptonshire as the location for its brand new £60 million 715,000 sq ft state-of-the-art, logistics facility. Based at Midlands Logistics Park in Corby, which has created 2,200 local jobs since 2015, the scheme is due for completion in June 2020.

Europa Worldwide Group – a Sunday Times Top Track 250 company for the second year running – is a specialist road, air & sea, warehouse and showfreight operator which has two significant sites in Northants at Grange Park and Rushden employing 120 staff. Globally the business employs more than 900 people across its 16 sites in the UK, as well as Hong Kong and Belgium with representation in 100 countries.

The new site in Corby, just off the A43, will be one of the UKs largest and most advanced 3PL warehouses.

Europa Warehouse also operates award-winning warehouse sites in Dartford and Birmingham. This new facility will double Europa Warehouse’s logistics capacity and is being constructed to a high-quality institutional specification, including above market standard 18 metre heights to facilitate three floors of mezzanines.

Andrew Baxter, Managing Director at Europa Worldwide Group, said: “We’re delighted to announce this huge investment in our logistics operation at a time of strong growth at Europa.

“This is the single biggest investment we have ever made since I acquired the business in 2013 and it demonstrates our ambition to strengthen our 3PL operation at a time of huge market growth, particularly for e-commerce logistics.

“Corby is strategically the most impactful location for our new facility given its central location, its fantastic position in relation to major arterial routes and its strong local workforce. There will be a requirement for recruitment at our new facility at Midlands Logistics Park – numbers of which will be confirmed in time – and we know the pool of candidates in the area is very high quality. We look forward to investing further in the local economy as we grow this new site.”

This is the latest investment in Europa’s logistics operation following strong results by the award-winning team. Europa Warehouse delivers a cost-effective solution offering a range of value-added capabilities including e-commerce fulfilment, production services, inventory management, packing, labelling, special deliveries, final assembly, quality control and critical parts management. Europa also has a fully compliant contact centre, offering an extensive range of outsourced customer support by phone and digital platforms.

Europa Warehouse already supports a wide range of leading blue-chip clients and this new facility will enable it to enhance its services significantly.
