On behalf of Kingston Unity Friendly Society Ltd, commercial property consultant Ryden has announced the letting of 19 Market Place, Harrogate to financial services provider and retailer Ramsdens, who has taken over the 594 sq ft retail unit on a 10 year lease.

This letting is also the result of an extensive refurbishment carried out by Ryden Project and Building Consultancy in Leeds, with Dan Smith acting as Principal Designer and Contract Administrator for the enabling works to facilitate a new occupancy.

These works included slate roof repairs, sliding sash window repairs and a full strip out of the previous tenant’s fit out, plus an overhaul and decorations to the shop front.

The premises are located at the heart of Harrogate Town Centre and form part of the Harrogate Central Conservation Area. Ryden liaised with the conservation officer to ensure all works complied with planning requirements, particularly the shop front aspect.

Dan Hodge, Associate and letting agent at Ryden, commented on this deal:

“We’re delighted to have represented the landlord in this transaction. It was a fantastic result, given the perceived woes of the high street, that we have let the unit to such a great covenant as Ramsdens.”

Ryden acted on behalf of landlord Kingston Unity Friendly Society Ltd, whilst Richard Barker of Barker Proudlove represented the tenant.
