Award-winning production company Fulwell 73 chooses Islington Square for new London HQ

Cain International has confirmed Islington Square is set to become the flagship London headquarters of BAFTA and Emmy award-winning production company Fulwell 73.

The company, which lists viral hits such as Bros: After the Screaming Stops, Sunderland ‘Til I Die, The Late Late Show and Carpool Karaoke, will move into this brand-new innovative hub in the heart of Islington. Led by partners James Corden, Leo Pearlman, Gabe Turner, Ben Turner and Ben Winston, it has outgrown its existing premises in Camden and has ambitions to grow its headquarters in the UK.

At Islington Square, Fulwell 73 will operate across two buildings comprising 25,000 sq ft. The new premises will host the post-production function of the business and an open-plan office featuring a café and terrace. The original historic Edwardian façade, which was previously known as the BT bungalow, will be retained to facilitate the post-production process. Historically it housed an anechoic chamber to undertake tests into sound and electromagnetic waves. Each building has its own unique design and character and includes features such as a double height barrel vaulted roof on the upper floor and sky lighting.

Developed by Cain International and its partners, Islington Square is expected to be one of the most anticipated openings of 2019 and is set to become a new destination for Londoners to eat, drink and socialise.

Richard Pilkington, Managing Principal at Cain International, commented: “Ahead of the launch next month, we are pleased to welcome Fulwell 73 to Islington Square. This addition will further strengthen Islington Square’s position as an exciting new London destination which will compliment the existing creative line-up currently residing in the area. Traditionally production companies have based themselves in Soho and Camden – it is a huge win to sign a name like Fulwell 73. Islington Square is a mixed-use neighbourhood and is a place where culture, wellbeing, performance and literature exist side-by-side – this signing really reinforces that message.’’

Fulwell 73 works with some of the top music and sports talent in the world to make TV shows and other broadcast specials for stars like Bruno Mars, Harry Styles and Sam Smith. It has also produced feature documentaries with David Beckham and Usain Bolt. It joins an eclectic mix of premium and emerging retail and leisure brands in Islington Square including: Scandinavian fashion giant COS; the boutique family members club -Maggie & Rose; enlightened vegan restaurant OmNom; gym operator Third Space, cooking specialist Borough Kitchen and a six-screen Odeon cinema.

Totalling over 170,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, Islington Square is located in the heart of Islington, just off vibrant Upper Street – ten minutes’ walk from both Angel station (Northern Line) and Highbury and Islington Overground. In addition to the retail and leisure offering, Islington Square will feature 263 high-quality new homes and 108 serviced apartments, delivered by Galliard Construction.

Situated on the former site of the historic Royal Mail sorting office, the development has been considerately designed by renowned architects CZWG. The building will reflect the rich heritage of its past and the character of the local community.

CBRE has been appointed to act as asset and property manager. Citadines has been signed to operate the 108 serviced apartments and Peabody will run the affordable housing provision.

Islington Square is due to launch in October.
