MCS Group secures sixth Lok’nStore contract

Leading construction contractor MCS Group has started building a new self-storage facility in Gloucester for one of the leading names in the sector.

The West Midlands-based contractor will deliver the 15,134 sq ft unit on behalf of Lok’nStore, the rapidly growing self-storage company, at Triangle Park, Metz Way. The development is expected to reach practical completion in November.

Lok’nStore, which was established in 1995, is expanding across the country and has launched new facilities recently at locations including Hemel Hempstead, Wellingborough and Gillingham.

This is the sixth Lok’nStore project for MCS Group, which has worked alongside the company for several years to deliver high quality, purpose-built storage facilities for personal or business customers.

Alan Shadbolt, group commercial director at MCS Group, said: “We’ve got a very successful, longstanding relationship with Lok’nStore and we’ve recently completed developments for them in Ipswich, Hemel Hempstead and Southampton.

“So we are delighted to be able to announce that we have started on site to deliver another excellent storage facility, this time at Triangle Park in Gloucester. It is a 27-week project and we expect to be able to hand the new unit over to the company for fit out before the end of the year.”

Lok’nStore chief executive Andrew Jacobs said: “This excellent new location adds to the recent rapid growth in our pipeline of stores. Our objective remains to grow by both acquiring more sites to build new landmark stores for Lok’nStore’s own balance sheet and to increase the number of stores we manage under the Lok’nStore brand for third parties.”

In 1995 Lok’nStore was one of the first self-storage companies in the UK. Now it has 33 stores in convenient locations mostly across the South East of England. The eye-catching buildings, with their distinctive orange Lok’nStore branded livery and prominent Lok’nStore signage, create highly visible landmarks.

MCS Group is currently constructing warehouse and distribution units at sites across the UK and has in the past 12 months won contracts in Kettering, Lutterworth, and Hatfield. The company has built and refurbished more than 300 car dealerships including Audi, BMW, Mclaren and Jaguar Land Rover since its inception in 2003.
