Fashion brands flock to Manchester Arndale

M&G Real Estate and intu, joint owners of Manchester Arndale, have announced a series of lettings and lease extensions that further establishes the centre as one of the North’s leading fashion hubs.

In April, Uniqlo opened its flagship store for the North at Manchester Arndale. The store, which is only Uniqlo’s third in the UK outside London, occupies a completely redesigned 21,000 sq ft unit on Market Street. The opening saw hundreds of people queue to get their hands on the Japanese fashion brand’s cool and colourful ranges for men, women and children.

AllSaints has committed to a new ten-year lease on a new unit in the centre, following several years of strong trading on Market Street. The British fashion retailer will move to a new location on New Cannon Street, joining an attractive line-up of big fashion names including Gap, Monki, Superdry, River Island, Victoria’s Secret and Victoria’s Secret Pink. The contemporary global retail brand, which has been creating womenswear, menswear and accessories since 1994, will be introducing one of its market-leading shop fits to its new home.

They are joined at the centre by leading fashion retailers Jack & Jones and Quiz, the former of which has now been selling its famous denim collection for more than 25 years. They have taken a ten-year lease on a 6,400 sq ft unit.

Rounding off the new arrivals is home and body lifestyle retailer, Rituals, which has signed a 10 year lease on a 990 sq ft store on New Cannon Street . Manchester Arndale shoppers will soon be able to take advantage of their entire range, which draws inspiration from the wisdom and ancient traditions of cultures around the world.

Colin Flinn, regional managing director at intu, comments on behalf of the joint venture: “These new retailers and investment from top brands demonstrates the continued demand for high quality fashion in Manchester Arndale. The centre continues to be the city’s central fashion hub and is a destination for shoppers and retailers across the North. We’re really looking forward to seeing AllSaints’ new unit which will be the latest shop fit from a retailer renowned for its high quality retail environments.

“Hundreds of people queued for the opening of Uniqlo, a further example of just how much demand there is for quality fashion in Manchester.”
