Litmos Heroes, MPP Global, and Cavendish Nuclear crowned winners of The Birchwood Park Expect More Awards

Following Wellbeing Week 2019, Birchwood Park has announced the three winners of the Birchwood Park Expect More Awards, an award scheme designed to recognise park occupiers for their excellent approach to employee workplace wellbeing.

Due to the number of quality entries, the team at Birchwood Park created three categories within the Expect More Awards to recognise small, medium and large office occupiers within Birchwood Park. The Expect More Award for Small Offices goes to Litmos Heroes, a company providing a fun and unique off-the-shelf library of content for learning and training, with the award for Medium Offices being awarded to MPP Global, the world’s smartest subscriber management and billing platform, and the award for Large Offices being given to Cavendish Nuclear, the UK’s leading nuclear services company.

The Expect More awards were designed to recognise the efforts of businesses on the park who demonstrate an outstanding effort towards employee wellbeing, placing it at the heart of their organisation, and Litmos Heroes, MPP Global and Cavendish Nuclear are each shining examples of this ethos.

The 20-strong team at Litmos Heroes, who have been occupiers at Birchwood for around five years, is on a mission to ‘save the world from boring learning’ by transforming traditional training courses into their own unique style of engaging content to suit the needs of every learner – an approach they like to inject into every aspect of company life.

Danielle Kennedy, Director of Learning at Litmos Heroes, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be one of the winners of the first ever Expect More Award! We work hard to make sure our staff enjoy coming into work every single day by providing our team with benefits that promote wellbeing and a fun environment to work in.

“Our office comes with a break-out area fully equipped with pool table and games, and we offer free fruit and an allowance towards breakfast and lunch each day. There’s no strict dress-code in the Litmos Heroes office, and we also like to host fun office activities such as regular ‘Bake Off’ competitions and office fitness days at the Alive and Well gym.

“In addition, our employees have access to free onsite parking, flexible holidays and the opportunity to take part in training courses on mindfulness, wellbeing and relieving stress – and they all get to enjoy it in a newly revamped, comfy and colourful office.”

Winners of the Medium Office Expect More Award, MPP Global Solutions, were recognised for the fantastic focus placed on the wellbeing of their team and implementing ‘The Culture Code Project’.

Paul Johnson, CEO & Co-Founder of MPP Global, said: “We wanted to focus on enhancing our company culture by delivering on real actions that mattered to our workers. We did this by launching our Culture Code Project, to better understand our employees and invest in our employee wellbeing.

“We undertook extensive surveys of our employees to find out what truly matters to them, and from the results developed our Culture Code which encapsulates our company ethos, mission and values – essentially, our company’s DNA.”

The team at MPP Global also spent £80,000 on a complete office re-vamp, to modernise their space and provide an inspiring environment for their staff, conduct regular employee forums to keep on top of feedback and ideas, and provide funding and subsidies for extra-curricular activities for staff.

Johnson continued: “Our people are the lifeblood of MPP Global, and the importance of our people is paramount as we continue to grow and look at ways we can make MPP Global one of the very best businesses to work for in the North West.”

Cavendish Nuclear, the UK’s leading nuclear services company, were awarded the Large Office Expect More Award for their pioneering efforts towards employee wellbeing.

Bill Peate, General Manager at Cavendish Nuclear, said: “Our success depends on how our workforce perform and we believe that this is driven by the health and wellbeing of our employees, and so we’re continuously looking to invest in our workplace wellbeing programme and ensuring our employees look forward to coming into work every day.

“Over the past 18 months we have conducted mental health awareness sessions, provided training for mental health first aiders across the businesses, and most recently encouraged our staff to take part in the Virgin Pulse Global challenge – we saw over 500 people sign up to take part in the challenge which focused on improved nutrition, sleep and psychological wellbeing; the workplace is happier, healthier, and has a great community spirit as a result!”

Martin O’Rourke, commercial director at Birchwood Park comments: “We were thoroughly impressed with the range of entries we received for our inaugural Birchwood Park Expect More Awards, and thrilled to recognise Litmos Heroes, MPP Global and Cavendish Nuclear for their fantastic approach to workplace wellbeing.

“It’s great to see so many of our occupiers get involved with a huge number of our on-site activities, including the onsite yoga sessions, fun runs, lunchtime walks and allotments. Each of our deserving winners embody everything we strive to achieve here on Birchwood Park by creating an altogether different approach to business, moving away from traditional and stuffy office environments and putting a real focus on the improving the overall wellbeing of their employees, and making it easier for all to access.”
