Crown Workspace unveils new ‘freethinking’ workplace for law firm Freeths

Crown Workspace has completed the design and fit out of a new flagship office for Top 50 commercial law firm Freeths. The project took 14 weeks to complete and entailed relocating all 60 London-based staff to a single and larger floor at 1 Vine Street in Mayfair.

Following a competitive selection process, Freeths appointed Crown Workspace to design and create an open plan, modern and multi-functional space that would facilitate continual business growth and foster the business’s unique collaborative working ethos, breaking the mould of stereotypical legal offices.

The law firm also wanted to create a members clubs for clients, which could be used for meetings and remote working and as a way to encourage their customers to spend more time in the office. The space provides Freeths’ clients with somewhere to work pre or post meetings or if in need of a meeting facility themselves. The client lounge is modelled on a private members club, with low comfortable seating, high back chairs to create privacy and fast and effective IT and AV connectivity.

To create an environment of collaboration, the open plan office has different types of spaces to support different ways of working: from small private spaces to make confidential calls, to a café area with high tables to encourage informal discussions and internal meetings amongst staff.

Philippa Dempster, Managing Partner at Freeths comments: “Creating an open plan workspace was really important to us. We wanted to produce an environment that fosters learning and development for younger members of staff. We also wanted to create a customer focus area that clients would feel comfortable using as a second office.

Crown Workspace has gone the extra mile. They have helped us create a modern office that fulfils the brief and is multi functional. They spoke with the building manager and understood the limitations around when work could take place and have provided excellent aftercare.”

Simon Gammell, Director at Crown Workspace concludes: “We were delighted to have been appointed by Freeths to complete this important project for them and the positive feedback we have received from both members of staff and clients of Freeths clearly demonstrates that we achieved the desired results. Clients want a creative, qualified and experienced team to complete a project such as this for them. At Crown Workspace, we work with a range of independent design partners and suppliers, which allows us to access a wealth of different skills and knowledge. It also gives us the unique ability to match this expertise with individual clients, find the best blend of experience and personality and ultimately deliver a seamless project such as this one for Freeths.”
