Malting gold

Two Welsh sporting legends have attended the opening of new offices at the Grade 11 listed Victorian malthouse, The Maltings in Cardiff.  Lynn “The Leap” Davies CBE, who won a gold medal for the Long Jump at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964, and rugby great Gareth Edwards CBE, joined Nick Williams, Chairman of The Maltings Ltd along with over 20 local agents.

Lynn Davies carried the Olympic torch in Cardiff in May 2012 and was one of seven British Olympic heroes honoured in the closing moments of the Olympic Opening Ceremony. He attended the event at The Maltings with Gareth Edwards to celebrate the completion of an additional 17,754 sq ft of new offices, ranging from 150 sq ft to 1,776 sq ft. The Maltings offers both serviced and traditionally let office space, as well as an on-site gym, a café/coffee shop and a shuttle bus service to Cardiff city centre.

Mr Davies said, “During this Olympic period it is extremely encouraging to see a development that incorporates a fitness centre, including free membership for tenants. I would urge them to make full use of these facilities!”

Gareth Edwards has been a life-long friend of Nick Williams. He said, “I am delighted to be able to assist with the opening of this wonderful concept for office space in the city. The Maltings building has been a noteworthy building in Cardiff for over a hundred years and Nick has given it a new lease of life with the development of contemporary office space complementing the long established archive storage solutions facility.”

Kate Simpson, Senior Surveyor for Cooke & Arkwright’s Office Agency, who acts on behalf of The Maltings said, “The event was very well attended and it was a privilege to meet two sporting greats. I was also very impressed by the very flexible office areas which would present extremely well for anyone inviting clients into their business space. It’s an inspiring and striking environment for business start-ups and more established enterprises, which has the additional advantage of offering ‘clustering’ benefits to occupiers.”
