A Dorset steel construction company, working with Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group, is to start on site for a new £12.3million Jaguar Land Rover dealership in Bristol.

John Reid & Sons Ltd (REIDsteel) has provided design and manufacture expertise for steelwork, cladding and decking on the new Guy Salmon showroom at Cribbs Causeway.

The Christchurch-based company is due to arrive on site in mid-April 2019 to start on its phase of construction on the state-of-the art project.

Extending over 72,000 sq ft, the dealership will include showrooms, a 280 space roof deck car park as well as workshops, servicing bays and office space over two floors.

REIDsteel has designed, built and will erect approximately 620 tonnes of structural steelwork and 10,600 sq m of decking – all meeting JLR’s Dual Arch Concept requirements for its showrooms.

Jordan Laker, REIDsteel bid manager, said: “It is exciting to be involved in such a prestigious project in one of the UK’s prime retail locations.

“It is the second JLR dealership we have worked on in recent months, and our largest in the automotive sector so far.

“Guy Salmon is part of the Sytner Group Ltd, a national dealership for prestigious cars and one of the largest automotive retailers in Europe.”

He added: “We are looking forward to starting on site and playing our part in creating one of the most impressive dealerships of its kind anywhere in the country.”

Work was started by building contractors on the development just after Christmas 2018 and it is expected that the dealership will open in spring 2020.

REIDsteel also provided expertise for the design, manufacture and erection of structural steelwork, cladding and decking for Jardine Motors Group’s JLR dealership in Wolverhampton.

The 130-strong company specialises in providing entire steel frame and building envelope solutions all under one roof. Thanks to their in-house capabilities and expertise, they are regularly contracted to design, manufacture and supply complete steel structures including the cladding, glazing, louvres and staircases for projects anywhere in the UK, Europe and across the world.

They include bridges, hospitals, sports stadia, disaster resilient buildings, defensive structures, churches, schools, industrial & commercial buildings, warehouses and advanced aircraft hangars.
