Atlantic Point workshop units completed and sold in Barry

The third phase of the Atlantic Point development of industrial units has been completed – and all four of the new workshop units constructed have now been sold.

Electrical installers Concept has purchased one unit, decorating business Classic Group has purchased two more, and the sale of the fourth unit is imminent. The units are 128 sq m (1,378 sq ft) each.

Andy Ismail and his two partners at ThinkVans.com have now designed and built 14 industrial units on the two-acre Atlantic Point plot of land on Wimbourne Road at Barry Docks – and all have been sold.

Andy Ismail said: “We simply couldn’t find the premises we needed for ThinkVans.com in Barry and designed the new units to suit the needs of small and growing companies like ours.

“Atlantic Point has been a great success and because of the demand we have now applied for planning permission to build a further 43 units totalling 61,000 sq ft in six buildings on the Spider Camp land we have acquired across the road from Atlantic Point.”

Andy and his team hope to start on the two year construction programme early in the New Year.

Nick Kelly, director of Concept Electrics, bought Unit 2 in the Phase 3 development at Atlantic Point. He said: “Business is going well and we have outgrown our premises in the Palmerston workshops in Barry. The new Atlantic Point unit is in a great location with easy access to the motorway and gives us the space we need to grow. We anticipate adding a further 15 people to our current workforce strength of 32 within two years.”

Andy Ismail’s team was advised in the development and marketing of the buildings by the Cardiff office of property adviser Knight Frank. Grace Shackell, a member of the Industrial agency team at Knight Frank, said: “This development consistently attracts enquiries due to the quality of the units and desirable size for local occupiers. The Spider Camp units will bring much needed additional capacity to Barry once they are completed.”
