St. Modwen, the expert developer and regeneration specialist, has completed the next phase of student accommodation at Swansea University’s £450m Bay Campus site this month.
As part of the ongoing development, the new residential building has been developed by St. Modwen, in partnership with Swansea University and Navitas. It will provide 411 en-suite bedrooms for students of The College – Swansea University, also completed by St. Modwen last year.
Work commenced on the accommodation in May 2017 and was completed on 14th January 2019. The building, which will be known as Rod Jones Hall, has been delivered on schedule.
Construction of the student accommodation was overseen by the University’s development partner for the Bay Campus, St. Modwen, with work carried out by lead contractor, VINCI Construction UK.
Martin Tresidder, Development Director for St. Modwen West and Wales, said:
“We are delighted to deliver new accommodation for students at Swansea Bay Campus. The Bay Campus is one of our flagship developments where we have already delivered over 1 million sq ft of academic and recreational space. Completion of this new residential building is another one of several stages within our long-term rolling programme of construction at the Bay Campus, which could see the site expand to over 2m sq ft within the next five years.”

Under the existing outline planning consent for the Bay Campus, there is consent to deliver up to 4,000 new student residences across the lifetime of this 10-year project. St. Modwen will continue to work closely in partnership with Swansea University to realise this end goal.
