Companies plan for expansion from units in Yaxley

Barker Storey Matthews was the sole agent under instruction on units in two business locations in Yaxley where two Peterborough-based companies have recently located to accommodate company growth plans.

Smart Floor UK Ltd – a supplier and distributor of specialist polished concrete flooring to the commercial construction industry – has taken a five year lease on Unit 3, a 109.03 sq m (1,174 sq ft) warehouse with offices, at Enterprise Court in Yaxley within six months of the company being set up.

Nearby, at Discovery Business Park, Allbright Property Maintenance Ltd has made the move to from an office at home to 172 sq m (1,850 sq ft) of office and warehouse accommodation in taking a six year lease at Unit 4 – one of just twelve brand new, purpose-built light industrial, showroom/trade counter units now built there and where just one unit remains available.

In seeking new premises, both companies were looking for units in which they can accommodate future expansion plans. Smart Floor UK Ltd is looking to recruit locally in the new year (2019) and Allbright Property Maintenance Ltd has recently hosted a day of interviews, as well as looking for candidates for a structured apprenticeship scheme.

Both businesses serve a national client base and so needed to have premises with good transport connections to cross country road networks. The A1(M) and onward road links are less than four miles from Yaxley and Peterborough’s Parkway system is accessible, with the city centre just three miles away.

Commenting on these latest lettings, Richard Jones, Director, Barker Storey Matthews’ Peterborough office, said, “The presence of Screwfix at Discovery Park has certainly been a draw for businesses operating in the property and construction sector, as has the profile of the whole of this part of Yaxley which, in little more than a decade, has established itself as a vibrant and popular commercial location.

“The type and range of accommodation is particularly suited to those small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), such as Smart Floor UK and Allbright Property Maintenance, who are gearing up for the next phase of business development.”
