CBRE secures Specsavers for Empire House, Sauchiehall Street

Leading property consultancy CBRE has secured Specsavers for 55/57 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, on behalf of the landlord George Capital.

Specsavers has taken the city centre retail unit on a new ten years FRI lease at a rental of £115,000 per annum. It was previously occupied by lingerie retailer Ann Summers.

The move follows the recent letting of the first floor office (12,350 sq ft) to CPX Ltd, which completed in early September.

George Capital has recently submitted a planning application to Glasgow City Council for a comprehensive refurbishment of the office space which includes upgrading the public realm on West Nile Street and the entrance to Empire House.

Kevin Sims, senior director in CBRE’s Retail team, said: “It’s great to have secured Specsavers for this prominent retail unit on Sauchiehall Street and we’re pleased to have advised George Capital on the deal. We’re confident Specsavers will trade well given its high profile location on one of Glasgow’s busiest thoroughfares and it’s great for the business to acquire a permanent site back on Sauchiehall Street.”

Specsavers is currently fitting-out the unit and will be open for trading soon.

CBRE acted for the landlord George Capital whilst Culverwell acted for the tenant Specsavers.
