Welsh life sciences company Bond Digital Health has created two new job roles after receiving more than a quarter of a million pounds in funding.

The company, based at the Life Sciences Hub in Cardiff, has hired Edryd Sharp as head of product design and Phil Cooley as quality assurance manager.

Earlier this year Bond received a private equity investment of £200,000 to help grow the business and take on new employees. It was also awarded funding of more than £75,000 for various projects.

Dave Taylor, founder and chief operating officer of Bond Digital Health, said: “This has been an incredible year for Bond Digital Health, with new commercial customers, exciting new partnerships, the launch of several innovative projects and of course record private investment.

“All of this activity means we need to add new skills and expertise to the business and in Edryd and Phil we have two exceptional new team members.

“Their knowledge and experience will be vital as we continue to grow and we are confident they will help take Bond Digital Health to the next level.”

Cardiff Metropolitan University graduate Edryd Sharp joins Bond with more than 15 years’ experience of working in digital. As head of product design, he will be responsible for providing strategic direction across all elements of the creative development process.

Mr Sharp said: “Bond is an ambitious company that is out to make a name for itself in the digital health market. I’m looking forward to helping it achieve its goals.”

Phil Cooley, a science graduate from Cardiff University, has more than 11 years’ experience of quality control and analysis in the healthcare sector. As quality assurance manager, he will be responsible for planning and implementing a quality management system.

Mr Cooley said: “It’s clear to me that with its innovative technology and talented team Bond has huge potential. I can’t wait to get started.”
