Leading Welsh law firm Howells Solicitors have continued their ambitious expansion plans with the recruitment of four experienced personnel to join the company, which has recently moved to a larger central Cardiff head office.

Sue Edwards is a partner and the new Head of Medical Negligence and Personal Injury, Bethan Southcombe is the new Head of Employment Law, Associate Solicitor Rachael Brown joins their Corporate and Commercial Law department and Victoria Powers will lead their Systems Development team.

All four new personnel have significant previous experience in national law firms in their specialist areas. Their appointments are key to helping the firm achieve their objective of becoming one of the largest independent law firms in Wales offering comprehensive personal and business law services.

Explaining the significance of these key new recruits and the timing of their appointments, Mark Hobbs, managing director of Howells Solicitors, said “We are very pleased to have secured the expertise of Sue, Bethan, Rachael and Victoria. Individually, they are each vastly experienced in their specialist fields and have all held senior positions in national companies where they have been responsible for the development of their departments.

Over the past five years, Howells has achieved a record growth in turnover of 179% across all six of our South Wales offices and in July we moved to a 22,000 sqft central Cardiff head office. We are continuing to expand and add more expertise throughout the business by making senior appointments and are confident that our new recruits will contribute towards this.”

Sue Edwards, partner and Head of Medical Negligence and Personal Injury said, “I am joining Howells at a very exciting time for the business. Their proven track record and plans for the future clearly demonstrate Howells’ ambitions to become a leading Welsh independent law firm and I’m looking forward to joining the team to achieve this. Having previously worked for an international law firm, it is a welcome change to have direct access to the directors of the business and to deal with clients individually rather than as case numbers. This personal approach is very much part of the ethos of the company and is in-line with my professional approach.”
