CBRE appointed to provide property management services at Liverpool’s iconic Royal Albert Dock

Leading global real estate advisor, CBRE has been appointed by Gower Street Estates, the freeholder of Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, to provide property management services at the iconic location.

Located in the heart of Liverpool’s historic waterfront, the 19th century dock was recently granted Royal status by Her Majesty The Queen to mark its pivotal role in the city’s maritime history. Royal status comes as part of the Dock’s 175 strategy, which prepares for a year of celebration in 2021 – 175 years since the Dock was officially opened.

The 1.25 million sq ft site includes offices, retail and leisure and is home to major attractions such as Tate Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum, International Slavery Museum and the Beatles Story and comprises the largest collection of Grade 1 listed buildings in the country. Located on Liverpool’s UNESCO World Heritage waterfront – the Dock welcomes over six million people annually making it the most visited free tourist attraction in the North West.

CBRE will be responsible for delivering day-to-day management of the Dock on behalf of the freeholder’s interest held by Gower Street Estates to enhance the visitor and occupier experience.

Andrew Willoughby, UK Asset Services at CBRE, said:

“Royal Albert Dock Liverpool is one of the UK’s most significant leisure attractions and we are delighted to have been appointed to bring our experience and expertise to manage such a prestigious site. We look forward to working with Gower Street Estates to ensure the site continues to create a vibrant and safe environment within this attractive historic realm.”

Welcoming the appointment of CBRE, Sue Grindrod, chief executive, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, commented:

“There has never been a better time to join us here at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool as we enter an exciting new era in its 172-year history, counting up to 2021 when we celebrate the Dock’s 175th anniversary.

“As we build up to this milestone with new developments and investments, including the new Welcome Pavilion, which is set to open in 2019, and with footfall remaining very strong, the scene is set for a positive economic outlook for the Dock.

“CBRE bring placemaking experience to support our focus in developing the visitor and occupier experience, and we welcome them to the Dock family.”
