MP commemorates £70million investment at Symmetry Park

John Mann MP has addressed a business audience and other local dignitaries at a special event to mark the progress of a £70 million investment on land adjacent to the Junction 34 of the A1(M).

Db symmetry, one of the UK’s biggest logistics developers, hosted the event to showcase its first stage of speculative development on the 54-acre site with a purpose built, 150,000 sq ft building that will become available for occupation this September.

Overall the company has committed to deliver up to 721,000 sq ft of logistics space on the North Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire border and has already agreed deals for Euro Garages to deliver a branded fast food restaurant and coffee shop and Irizar to build a coach showroom.

The team at db symmetry were also joined by representatives of Bassetlaw District Council including Cllr David Challinor, Chairman of the Council, Cllr Jo White, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, and David Armiger, Director of Regeneration and Neighbourhoods. A number of local councillors also attended alongside key regional commercial property agents.

John Mann MP congratulated db symmetry on its speculative development and praised the location for having the best access for road, rail and airport freight in the country. He said, “The development of Symmetry Park has seen new road infrastructure constructed that has improved transport, connections and made the location far more economically competitive. It is a landmark site first seen from the motorway on entering Yorkshire and will bring fantastic economic benefits to the area.”

Cllr Jo White, Cabinet Member for Regeneration at Bassetlaw District Council, said: “It was good to see great progress on the site with such a high-quality building. db symmetry’s commitment to the scheme will continue to generate further inward investment with potential for around 950 new jobs in the area.”

Andrew Dickman, Director at db symmetry said, “Our decision to speculatively build this unit comes at a time when there is a strong level of demand but limited availability of high quality logistics space. The 150,000 sq ft building has been designed with great flexibility, allowing for extension up to 250,000 sq ft. The design, coupled with full site infrastructure works, now enables us to quickly react to market requirements within that size bracket but also be poised to quickly deliver additional bespoke manufacturing/distribution space up to 550,000 sq. ft., with immediate access to a motorway junction.”
