A Swansea-based technology company, that began life as a start-up in Welsh Government’s Technium programme, is relocating to new premises to accommodate its ambitious growth plans.
Cyden, which specialises in the design and manufacture of intense pulsed light hair removal systems for the home beauty market, employs some 40 staff with plans to recruit up to 50 more in a variety of roles over the next two years.
Ranked in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table as well as Wales’ Fast Growth 50, the privately-owned company is set to move into new offices and a separate manufacturing facility located on Fabian Way over the coming months.
Acting on behalf of the landlord Trojan, commercial property consultants Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has negotiated a 12-year lease on Unit 2.2 Fabian Park in Crymlyn Burrows just outside Swansea.
The 26,500 sq ft of Grade A warehouse was according to Jason Thorne, logistics market expert at LSH, the last available modern Grade A high eaves buildings in south west Wales.
“It’s the ideal property for Cyden given its scale and location close to Junction 42 of the M4 and so near to their new offices in Bay Studios,” says Thorne “and now that it is let, the market need for new or refurbished warehouse accommodation in the region is even greater.”
Cyden will vacate its ‘starter home’ in SA1 Swansea this summer following some remodelling of Fabian Park to bring it up to the standards required for medical device manufacture.
“It was important to us to stay in the area given our established workforce and ongoing recruitment campaign,” comments Giles Davies, Cyden’s CEO.
“Our new Bay Studios offices will allow us to accommodate more staff whilst the manufacturing and distribution facility, our first since we were established in 2002, will give us better operational control and help drive efficiencies as well as speed of innovation,” he adds.
Fabian Park forms part of the Trojan development and is near to other key companies and operators, each drawing on the strategic strength of the location including Amazon, Swansea University, Kearns and the Towers Hotel.
