Staffordshire firm joins in promotion celebrations

A Staffordshire creative firm has been joining in the promotion celebrations for the Football League’s newest entrant.

Fleetwood Town FC has just been promoted to League Two after lifting the Football Conference League Trophy. And Rugeley-based GMP Design has celebrated a contract to design a new hospitality suite as part of a £5 million stadium re-development

Meanwhile GMP’s sister company, Kribensis Leisure Contracts Ltd, is installing a new reception area at the club, as well as a corporate boardroom and toilets. These refurbishments have also been designed by GMP.

The GMP plans for the club’s Highbury Stadium, in Stratford High Street included a stunning new restaurant, bar and function venue to suit the club’s new status as a Football League club. As part of the Parkside Hospitality Suite, GMP also delivered seven executive boxes looking out onto the pitch and the new 2000-seater stand, which commands great views of Blackpool.

GMP designer on the project, Jason Robinson, himself a native of Fleetwood, said it was exciting for him to work on a major project in his home town.

“It is amazing to see the ambition shown by the club in offering facilities that could rival many of the UK’s top flight teams. We delivered several great features in the hospitality suite including a stunning artificial skylight ceiling. We used the club’s colours in our design, particularly in the executive boxes with the installation of red gloss units,” he said.

This is the second time GMP has carried out work for Fleetwood Town FC, having designed their match-day bar in 2008.
Club chairman Andy Pilley said, “The stand looks incredible. It’s not just exterior but the interior as well. It is a fantastic facility.”

GMP Design and sister company Kribensis Leisure Contracts, both on the Towers Business Park, were established by Rugeley businessman Neil Morten. They have become among the UK’s leading bar, restaurant and club interior design and fit-out companies, with major contracts throughout the UK, Europe and the Far East.

The companies have worked on numerous concepts and venues around the world including the international rollout of the world famous Ministry of Sound nightclubs, with venues in Bangkok, Singapore, Egypt, London and Taiwan.

Neil Morton said, “This contract came at exactly the right time for Fleetwood Town, who have tremendous ambitions for the future. We congratulate them on their elevation to the Football League and wish them every success for the 2012-13 season.”
